Could a neon bag become a wardrobe staple? Would you spend $200+ on one?

This neon satchel is an old Target purchase. Even if a bear cub hadn’t chewed on it (for real!), it would have been looking tatty by now. Five years is a long time in the life of a cheap, PVC, knockoff bag.

I’ve considered replacing it with the real deal: a leather Cambridge Satchel Company satchel. Besides the insane price of the real deal ($235 for the 13-inch satchel), I also get hung up on the color. I’d want it in this neon yellow. I don’t want a practical brown, black or even red bag. I want another traffic stopper. And I can’t seem to wrap my mind around spending that much on something so impractical.

So, round and round I go, as I continue to use this cracked and chewed knockoff. (This is its 33rd wearing.)

Vest, Tinseltown (cut from a consignment jacket). Sweater, Forever 21. Dress, Ginger. Leggings, We Love Colors. Boots, Steve Madden. Sunglasses, Girlprops. Earrings, vintage. Bag, Mondani.

The first time the bag appeared on the blog, in March 2012:

It’s not impractical if you’ve worn it that many times! That’s $7/wear if you paid $235.Totally enabling you here, but figure out your cost per wear – if you’d pay $10 for a cheap bag but not $7/wear out of a more expensive bag (over time) then this is a practical purchase for you!

I agree with Sheila on this one! All comes down to price per wear. You’ve done some amazing looks with that bag. 🙂

Thanks! I’ll watch there as well as poshmark. I’m looking for the magnetic closures.
