Spanish Stranger

Zara is probably my favorite fast fashion store to browse. I rarely buy, though. On Monday, I finally succumbed to its Spanish mystique.

I’m now the proud owner of my first item from Spanish fast fashion chain Zara. “Proud” isn’t quite the right word, since I try to avoid buying fast fashion new. I was unsuccessful in thrifting a denim skirt, after visiting multiple secondhand shops. I finally bought this staple new. I like to pretend that, because Zara is Spanish, it is better than Forever 21. (And maybe it is?)

Sweater, Banana Republic (consignment). Skirt, Zara. Boots, Sam Edelman Circus (consignment). Hat, street vendor. Sunglasses, Target. Scarf, Claire’s.

I’ve bought Zara secondhand a few times, in my experience with the items I own it’s definitely much higher quality than forever21, as far as ethical concerns go I don’t know how it stacks up.

My minimal internet research says that Zara does better than most with fair wages and low environmental impact.

I really am liking the high/low denim non-hems lately. Kinda fresh! The floral is great. Another good DIY idea.

Would you DIY the embroidery? I don’t have the patience, but I think you can do it with a fancy machine.
