Food is medicine. I swear by a little (or a lot of) spice to burn out sickness. At the very least, spicy food is something I can taste through numbed taste buds.
On day five of the flu, I made some Holy Mole soup to burn the virus away. It’s from The 30-Minute Vegan: Soup’s On! I’ve made at least two dozen of the recipes from this cookbook. (None of them took less than 30 minutes, including this one.) I kept detailed notes for each recipe with my evaluation, changes, and additions. My scribbling on the Holy Mole Soup with Veggies page reads: “ZOMG delicious! Perfect heat. Sweet. Bitter.” It was worth making a second time, to include the tedious roasting, peeling, and deseeding of the poblano chiles. (The recipe directions do not include the chile roasting and peeling, but I think it is much improved by doing so.) Die flu, die!
