It's happened to all of us: we felt like a rock star in an outfit and then cringed when we saw photos. That dress that hangs off your shoulders "just so" looks like a trash bag to the camera. The pants that hug you in all the right places appear to wrinkle and bulge in a most unflattering way in pictures. It could be lighting. It could be the angle. It could just be the failure of a two-dimensional medium to capture a three-dimensional phenomenon.
This was one of those outfits that I loved to wear but hated to photograph. I felt lithe and graceful, but the pictures look dumpy and awkward. It took many shots to get one that began to approximate how the outfit looked and felt “in real life.” Thankfully, real life is not a static picture.
