It isn’t often that I pass on purchasing a clothing item and then regret the decision. Ten days ago, I visited a consignment shop with a friend, tried on a couple of things, but left without buying anything because I was hungry, in a hurry, and had to pee. But, as I got dressed over the next few days, I kept wishing I had brought home the cropped sweater with a giant faux fur collar. It seemed to go with everything I was planning to wear. Finally, I returned, today, to buy it.
I love that most everything in the consignment store is one-of-a-kind. You won’t run into someone wearing the same Target tee as yourself at the next party. But, the garments at the consignment store are mostly one-of-a-kind, so, when it’s gone, it’s gone. I searched the entire store, looking for the sweater, and came up empty-handed. So, I decided to look for something similar and was also disappointed. Finally, I approached the counter to ask about the sweater and I spotted it! It was at a rack, behind the counter, grouped with a number of other items with a rubber band. I asked about the sweater. It was being held (without payment) for another customer. However, she had failed to come in the day before, as promised, so the clerk sold it to me! It was destined to be. (Sorry, not sorry, to the customer who was holding it. You snooze, you lose.)
Jacket, BCBG Max Azria (consignment). Sweater, G-ladies (consignment). Turtleneck, Mossimo. Skirt, Madewell. Tights, B. Ella. Boots, Blondo. Sunglasses, Charming Charlie. Necklace, made by my friend, Colette. Bag, Nordstrom Rack.
Doesn’t it look perfect under my go-to leather jacket? I promise I’ll show it to you without the jacket, tomorrow.
I’m obsessed. I plan on wearing it ALL THE TIME! I wanted to wear it ballet, but had to admit it was too much for class.
