I packed and wore a six-day capsule for a speaker certification in Kansas City this week. Sunday and Friday were travel days. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were business formal (blazer required) and Thursday was business casual. I wore my James Jeans blazer almost every day and I love how it goes with everything from cutoffs to stilettos.
These are the capsule items:
Blazer (James Jeans)
Dress (Suzi Chin for Maggy Boutique)
Blouses – 2 (BCBG Max Azria and INC)
Pants (Banana Republic)
Cutoffs (Free People)
Leggings – 2 (Mossimo and Amour)
Sweatshirt (Fifth Sun)
Pumps (Nine West)
Wrap (Coldwater Creek)
Beanie (Who What Wear for Target)
Bag (A+ designed by Aldo)
Earrings – 2 (self-made and gift)
Belts – 2 (both thrifted).
The only item I wore, but didn’t photograph or list, is a down vest. I really needed it when it snowed on Tuesday!
Here’s how the capsule played out:
Capsule evaluation: I was happy with the workwear options in this capsule. I was a little underdressed for the weather, but, thankfully, did not have to spend much time outside. I was very glad I brought the scarf, hat, and wrap. They were lifesavers in the unexpectedly cold weather and the expectedly cold plane and conference room. I wish I had brought another casual bottoms option (jeans or yoga pants) and my moccasins for bumming around the hotel. The color palette worked very well: black, navy, brown, gray, olive, and red (with a dash or purple).
