Today was high school English. Students read the myth of Prometheus, analyzed chapter one of Of Mice and Men, and worked on essays. I read a pulpy science fiction novel (Muddle Earth). Somethings never change.
No matter the title, I always felt like it was a “cheat” that we got to read books for school. It was like eating candy for dinner. Of course, I’d read the entire book on the first day and then be totally bored when we were given reading time in class. Then, I’d have to sneak my non-educational material into class to read, instead.
