Bring Back the Banana

In 6th grade, I was all about the banana clip. I had one in turquoise, of course. While I might have failed hard at mall bangs, my spiral perm looked great in a banana clip.

I’ve cut short and then grown out my hair enough times that I save my long hair accessories, instead of tossing them. I’ve had short hair since fall 2012. My pins and clips and sticks and barrettes have been stashed away until now. I’d totally forgotten that I own two banana clips. I slipped one in today and relived the memories. (The 80s memories, that is.) I think we should bring back the banana clip.

Sweater, G Ladies (consignment). Vest, Tinseltown (cut from a consignment jacket). Tunic, Love Squared (thrifted). Leggings, We Love Colors. Boots, Madden Girl. Earrings, Charming Charlie. Bag, A+ designed by Aldo. Bag strap, Lam Gallery.

I love banana clips. I have no idea why some things are considered dated when others are considered classics. I admit that some things from back in the day make me say – what were we thinking?! But banana clips are just a variation on a ponytail, but less severe, IMHO.
