Our family has been “cursed” with producing mostly girls. Of my sisters’ five children, we have only one boy. (And my mother had five girls.)
I spent the weekend with two nieces and my only nephew. My nine-year-old niece and I bonded over fashion and Goosebumps. My nephew went running with me and beat me at a pushup contest. My youngest niece likes to pretend to be a cat. She meows and eats kitty cat food (Cheerios). I like playing the crazy aunt from California. The one who wears ponchos and dangly earrings and feeds leftover hamburgers to the chickens. (Those birds will eat anything!)
Poncho, Newport News. Shirt, Spense (consignment). Skirt, Zara. Boots, Vionic. Earrings, World Market.
