· Can you find Darth? ·
I intended for the Darth Vader helmets on my tights to be my little secret for the day. When I put on the tights, he was well covered by the dress hem. As the day progressed, though, the tights sagged within my boots and the dark helmet made his appearance, confusing my seminar participants.

· Lightning and hail ·
I drove over the Sierra, today, and saw one fantastic bolt of lightning and a few rain drops. I spent the night in Reno, but I heard that the Tahoe area had damaging winds and hail. As much as I love a storm, I am thankful to have missed that.

I finally found something I like in Vegas: Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. I had to rent a car to visit, but it was definitely worth the $31 (plus $7 entry fee). I drove the scenic loop twice and stopped to explore the Calico Hills on my second pass.

I flew to Seattle. It was gray. I flew to Kansas City. It was gray. Maybe I brought the gray with me. (Although I suspect it was blue in Sacramento. I don’t know because it was black when I left.)

Since I began substitute teaching, I’ve been “collecting” the different grades. So far, I’m only missing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd! Today, I repeated kindergarten. Not a bad grade to do again.
Dress, Express. Tunic (worn underneath), Wet Seal. Belt, thrifted. Shoes, Isaac Mizrahi. Sunglasses, Girl Props. Pin, Disney. Jacket, Xhilaration (thrifted).
I’ve always wanted a friend named Bert, so, although no one else calls Robert that, I christened him so when we met this summer. He calls me Aunt Kitty, which makes me feel like someone’s spinster aunt of indeterminate sexuality. I think he got the much cooler name out of the deal.
Jacket, Xhilaration (thrifted). Scarf, consignment. Tee, Disney. Skirt, thrifted, shortened, and embellished. Tights, We Love Colors. Boots, Audrey Brooke (consignment). Bag, El Paso Saddleblanket Co. Earrings, vintage. Rings, vintage, gift, and/or heirloom.
I got him back for the lame nickname by tricking him into portaits. I told him I just needed a warm body for the camera settings. Bwahahaha.
This was the nicest of the photos. (See, I not all vengeance!) I almost managed to trick Bert into photos of him licking the Lodi watertower, but he caught on to my games.
I realize it’s a little confusing to wear a Rebel Scum jacket and a Dark Side sweater. Which side am I on? My side. (Which, honestly has more to do with being a rebel than being dark.) For 2017, I plan to be true to myself, no matter how counter that may be to the mainstream. Be rebellious!
Jacket, Obey (embellished by my sister). Tunic, Wet Seal. Sweater, Forever 21 (thrifted). Leggings, Express. Boots, Style & Co (thrifted). Pin, Disney.
My Star Wars outfits from 2016:
May the force be with you in 2017!
We saw Rogue One tonight! I dressed in my Star Wars best.
Sweatshirt, Forever 21 (customized by me). Shorts, Free People (thrifted). Belt, thrifted. Boots, Vince Camuto. Jacket, Obey (customized by my sister).
I cut the collar and cuffs off this R2D2 sweatshirt and now I like it so much better.
Here’s the sweatshirt, before:
I always wore something over it to hide how bulky the sweatshirt was. After my alterations, the fit is less bulky and more slouchy.
I only wear weird things to blogger meetups. How else would people know I was a style blogger? If I didn’t pair Darth Vader with sequins, people might think I blog about food and we all know my food photography sucks. It’s really hard not to make a bowl of oatmeal look like a bowl of vomit. And that’s why I take pictures of outfits.
Jacket, Adrianna Papell. Sweater, thrifted. Jeans, Old Navy. Boots, Steve Madden. Earrings, handmade gift. Clutch, Express.
Oh, I wore this to a meetup of Sacramento Bloggers. We all agreed that food photography is the hardest.
