These are the capsule items:
Blazer (James Jeans)
Dress (Suzi Chin for Maggy Boutique)
Blouses – 2 (BCBG Max Azria and INC)
Pants (Banana Republic)
Cutoffs (Free People)
Leggings – 2 (Mossimo and Amour)
Sweatshirt (Fifth Sun)

Bag (A+ designed by Aldo)
Earrings – 2 (self-made and gift)
Belts – 2 (both thrifted).
The only item I wore, but didn’t photograph or list, is a down vest. I really needed it when it snowed on Tuesday!
Here’s how the capsule played out:
Capsule evaluation: I was happy with the workwear options in this capsule. I was a little underdressed for the weather, but, thankfully, did not have to spend much time outside. I was very glad I brought the scarf, hat, and wrap. They were lifesavers in the unexpectedly cold weather and the expectedly cold plane and conference room. I wish I had brought another casual bottoms option (jeans or yoga pants) and my moccasins for bumming around the hotel. The color palette worked very well: black, navy, brown, gray, olive, and red (with a dash or purple).

On the day I wear a thin cotton dress, no tights, and stilettos, it snows. Thankfully, it didn’t stick and I had to spend only seconds outside. I had forgotten how unpredictable March in the midwest can be.
Jacket, James Jeans. Dress, Suzi Chin for Maggie Boutique (consignment and altered). Shoes, Nine West. Bag, A+ designed by Aldo. Belt, The Limited (thrifted).
This is my version of a pantsuit: skinny, cropped, black trousers and a navy blazer trimmed in black leather.
Jacket, James Jeans. Blouse, BCBG Max Azria. Pants, Banana Republic. Boots, Vionic. Earrings, gift. Belt, The Limited (thrifted).
My favorite part of the outfit is the socks, though. I snagged a picture with my iphone:
I’m experimenting with making a lightweight chambray dress work for winter. Today, I layered it with a flannel and thick sweater on top and tights and boots on bottom. I didn’t love the result, but they can’t all be winners. I’ll try something different, next time.
Sweater, Mossimo (thrifted). Shirt, Passport. Dress, American Rag (consignment). Tights, We Love Colors. Boots, Vince Camuto. Necklace, Taneesi. Bag, Rebecca Minkoff.
I’m smoking salmon for the second time. The first time, after brining it for 24 hours, we went to turn on the smoker and it didn’t work. It took a week to get the part and I kept the fish in the dry brine the entire seven days and then cold smoked it anyway. Beefy didn’t trust it, but I ate the entire four pounds without incident. (Unless you count me groaning in ecstasy with every bite an “incident.”)
This time, the smoker is working and I’m using some heat. I’ve already promised smoked salmon to my neighbor, so I won’t be terribly upset if Beefy leaves the rest to me. I could eat salmon and eggs for breakfast every day.
Poncho, Christopher & Banks. Kimono, Carole Little (thrifted). Tunic, Urban Vibe (swap). Tee, American Apparel. Leggings, Allen B. Boots, Ariat. Earrings, flea market. Bag, Rebecca Minkoff.
I spent most of the day editing photos. I finished the boudoir photos from Friday and The Everyday Elevated pics from Sunday. I’ve included one favorite image from each, at the end of this post.
Jacket, BCBG Max Azria (consignment). Shirt, Passport. Dress, Jams World (thrifted). Boots, Dan Post. Sunglasses, Coco Sunglasses. Earrings, street fair. Scarf, Walgreen’s. Bag, Rebecca Minkoff.
The editing was very minimal: just straightening, correcting levels, and brushing away the odd blemish. Every minute I spend “fixing” an image just reminds me to take better (and fewer) photos in the first place! (I did apply a filter to the boudoir photo, below, but gave all the images to the model with no filters.)
After getting home at 3 a.m. this morning, I was up for a low-key Saturday. We kept it local. Beefy and I had lunch at Skool and shopped the OliaModa pop-up shop. Then we walked around the corner for cake and cheesecake at Rick’s Dessert Diner. Finally, we finished the day off at the club: a hot tub soak for me and treadmill time for Beefy.
Jacket, H&M (thrifted). Scarf, OliaModa. Shirt, Passport. Skirt, Mural (consignment). Leggings, We Love Colors. Boots, Vince Camuto.
